چکیده

Major noise sources of a home air conditioner are fan and compressor. Fan generates air flow noise main& and compressor is the main source of the vibration induced noise. In this study, finite element analysis, a method for design of experiment and a topology optimization method were used to find optimum shape of rubber mount, copper pipe and compressor base plate of a home air conditioner. For designing the shape of rubber mount and pipe, overall best shapes were found first and then sensitivity analysis was carried out to find the details. In designing the compressor base plate, bead shape, number of beads and their locations were found using sensitivily analysis and a topology optimization method was applied for further improvement. Analysis results showed that the vibration of the air conditioner was reduced signifcantly when the modtfied parts were employed Experimental results showed good agreement with those of the analysis and consequently, the noise generated by the air conditioner was reduced by 3a!B.

A New Finite Element Formulation for Buckling and Free Vibration Analysis of Timoshenko Beams on Variable Elastic Foundation

In this study, the buckling and free vibration of Timoshenko beams resting on variable elastic foundation analyzed by means of a new finite element formulation. The Winkler model has been applied for elastic foundation. A two-node element with four degrees of freedom is suggested for finite element formulation. Displacement and rotational fields are approximated by cubic and quadratic polynomia...

Mixed finite element formulation enriched by Adomian method for vibration analysis of horizontally curved beams

Abstract: The vibration analysis of horizontally curved beams is generally led to higher order shape functions using direct finite element method, resulting in more time-consuming computation process. In this paper, the weak-form mixed finite element method was used to reduce the order of shape functions. The shape functions were first considered linear which did not provide adequate accuracy....

Free Vibration Analysis of a Sloping-frame: Closed-form Solution versus Finite Element Solution and Modification of the Characteristic Matrices (TECHNICAL NOTE)

This article deals with the free vibration analysis and determination of the seismic parameters of a sloping-frame which consists of three members; a horizontal, a vertical, and an inclined member. The both ends of the frame are clamped, and the members are rigidly connected at joint points. The individual members of the frame are assumed to be governed by the transverse vibration theory of an ...

Investigation on the Ultrasonic Tube Hydroforming in the Bulging Process Using Finite Element Method

In ultrasonic tube hydroforming, the tube is hydro formed while the ultrasonic vibration is applied to the die. Prior studies provide experimental proof that ultrasonic tube hydroforming reduces corner radius, improves lubrication and uniform thickness. Use of ultrasonic vibration can decrease friction at the tube-die interface. Few attempts have been made to analyze the wire drawing while the ...

Extended Finite Element Method for Statics and Vibration Analyses on Cracked Bars and Beams

In this paper, the extended finite element method (XFEM) is employed to investigate the statics and vibration problems of cracked isotropic bars and beams. Three kinds of elements namely the standard, the blended and the enriched elements are utilized to discretize the structure and model cracks. Two techniques referred as the increase of the number of Gauss integration points and the rectangle...
